It was a busy Saturday for President Bola Tinubu. He was welcomed to the Enugu Coal City in the Southeast of Nigeria and then participated in a marathon commissioning of top-class projects spanning infrastructure and security areas.
Some of the projects commissioned by the President include the completed and equipped Enugu Smart Green School at GTC, the completed multi-auditorium and multi-functional Enugu International Conference Centre, urban roads in Enugu City, and the state-of-the-art Command and Control Centre as well as 150 patrol vehicles fitted with AI-embedded surveillance cameras.
The President, wearing an Isiagu and a red cap, traditional Igbo attire, arrived at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu in the afternoon and was received by the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah; the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma; the Abia Governor, Alex Otti; the Anambra Deputy Governor; the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu; former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim; and the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, among others.
He arrived at Akanu Ibiam International Airport at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, saying, “It’s a great honour to be in Enugu, and I’m delighted to commission these projects.” While commissioning the Command and Control Centre at Government House Enugu, Tinubu said, “This is a demonstration of what we can achieve together when we prioritize development and progress.”
Speaking at the event, the President commended Governor Mbah for his commitment to developing Enugu State, particularly in education, security, and infrastructure. “Governor Mbah is taking Enugu on the path of 21st-century development, and we are proud to support him.
“His administration focuses on building 21st-century schools, commissioning infrastructural development projects, tackling insecurity challenges, and promoting multipurpose facilities, which will bring about rapid development and growth in the state.
The President noted that the projects commissioned would enhance security and infrastructure in Enugu and attract more investors to the state. He described infrastructural projects as the joy of democracy, which can attract investment and create jobs.
The President also lauded the State Governor for walking on the path of development, which he described as 21st-century development enhanced by technology as a drive to bring the private sector into the government.
“Your Excellencies, the governors here, my friends and host, the governor of Enugu in particular,it is a great honor for me to be among you to spread the joy of development. I recognise the value you all have brought to this democracy; it is a joy. Infrastructural development is necessary to attract local and foreign investment, create jobs, and give us a better tomorrow than today.
“Enugu is achieving great heights and building our tomorrow today—a leader like Governor Peter Mbah placing Enugu on the path of 21st-century development.
“You’re a good thinker, Mbah. You’re my friend. We can go places together. Building Nigeria and building the future. Use technology to build. Promote investment. We must encourage the private sector to come into politics.”

“Today, we welcomed our dear President, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Enugu State, where he graciously commissioned several transformative projects executed by our administration.
“Among the projects commissioned were: 30 completed Enugu Smart Green Schools out of 260 under construction, 60 equipped Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres across 260 wards, the Enugu International Conference Centre, a hub for global engagement, 90 newly completed urban roads to ease mobility in our cities, and a state-of-the-art Command and Control Centre with 150 AI-embedded patrol vehicles for enhanced security.

“I want to assure my dear Ndi Enugu that this is just the beginning. As a government, we shall continue to build the Enugu of our dreams – a hub of opportunity, service delivery, and economic excellence.
“I wholeheartedly echo the President’s call that the elections are behind us and now is the time to unite and drive our nation forward. Regardless of political affiliations, we can build an Enugu State as well as a Nigeria that serves and uplifts everyone.
