Tinubu Congratulates as Lucky Ayedatiwa Wins Governorship Contest

Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the governorship contest in Ondo State scoring a total of 366,781 votes and winning in all 18 local government areas of the State. He defeated Mr. Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who came a dismal second with 117,845 votes.

The collation officer, Prof Olayemi Akinwunmi, reeled out the results and declared Lucky Ayedatiwa the winner of the election at exactly 2:30 pm. Though 2.05 million registered in the State only 1.7 eventually collected their PVCs representing 85.6 percent. The total votes cast in the election was 508,963 which shows that less than 30 percent of the registered voters participated in the election.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on his re-election as Ondo State Governor.

In a statement issued by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the president’s spokesperson,  Tinubu commended the peaceful conduct of the process in a statement. He congratulated the other candidates of the 17 political parties on their maturity and sense of purpose during the campaigns and the election, attributing the polls’ success to the state’s civility.

He urged the political actors to allow their orderly conduct to permeate the post-election activities and processes.
